Default Sinking A Canoe!

One thing I love about this artform is the varied techniques you can include along with the normal carving. I'm sure others have used resin in their caricatures but I doubt if they've taken it to the degree that I do here. Every once in a while you get the chance to do something that can make or break your carving. In this instance the resin mixture must be just right or it will go off wrong and the result could be disasterous. Maybe I should have left those two vultures in the tree while I did this step! Fortunately, everything worked out just as I had planned.

I have created a net Blog on my site that will take you through the process so far. I'm letting everything set and harden tonight and, after a morning ride with Boomer, will paint the surface and apply the final coat of epoxy resin. Stay tuned.

What an amazing , amazing work of art.. That's why I just Love carving's on a base! You can't tell a story with things just standing around, like you can with a story on a base!
Is the epoxy very hard to control while putting it on the base? Will it pile up if you don't keep it moving? I always wanted to know more about epoxy but Curtis was very allergic to it.. so we didn't keep it around. It makes perfect water..You truly have an amazing sense of ceativity and humor. I am anxiously awaiting to see the finished product..This one tops the other creative carvings you have done..Charlotte
