Very heraldric!

I thought at first painting would spoil it, but then, I'm a fan of seeing the wood grain at all times. But now, with paint and your tokens hanging from the bottom I can't see any way to improve upon it.

The colors are just jarring enough to combine with the off-centeredness of the carving to really grab your eye.

I hereby dub thee Knight of the Sign!

Thor,
I totally agree with Whitecree. I don't think I could use any better phrasing.
That was a year well spent. I'm sure you'll be getting many compliments on this.
Have you ever been to the Renaissance fair In Shakopee, MN. It's an amazing show of crafts. We attended it quite a few years ago. They have the best of the best at this show.

Thanks for all of the nice comments. I can't tell you how much your opinions and suggestions mean to me. No one around here really recognizes improvement in my work or makes suggestions that I can make use of.
You helped me have enough confidence (of maybe just guts) to send an image of it to Chris Pye to see if he would be interested in including it on his Greenman carvers' web site page at http://www.chrispye-woodcarving.com/...leryindex.html I actually heard back from him this morning.....and he said he will post it on there after he returns from a trip to the USA. It may take awhile, but I just think I'm going to pop with excitement.

I haven't answered with my thank you's, because it brings this thread up to the top again, and I thought it has already received plenty of feedback, but I have a question if anyone can answer it...
How'd this thread get the 5 stars next to it? If it means something good, then I sure am flattered.
Humbly,
Thor

Post Re: sign in progress

Hi Thor,
I didn't know how they rated a thread, so i checked on FAQ.
Here's the answer:
You may find a small menu on thread pages which allows you to 'rate this thread' with a number between 1-5.
Casting a vote for threads you view is entirely optional, but if you think that the thread is superb, you might rate it as a 5-star thread, or if you think that it's unspeakably dismal, you might choose to rate the thread with a single star.
Once enough votes have been cast for the thread rating, you may see a set of stars appear with the title of the thread in the thread listings. These stars reflect the average vote cast, and can allow you to quickly see which threads are worth reading if you are on a very busy forum with a lot of threads.
Dick
