| | "She's a Lady" Remember the tree carving in the huge willow that I just started. Well the customer wanted me to do a lady as well. I explained that I didnt usually carve ladies but if he was willing I would try one. He told me the worst that could happen is that if he didnt like it we could always turn it into a woodspirit. So here is my attempt a lady in a tree. BTW the customer came by this afternoon and was really happy with what I was able to do. I guess that is all that counts as long as the customer is happy. It is not quite finished I have to put in some more detail but how do you like her so far. I have included some pictures of how I got her to this stage. Also this is the about two hours carving to this stage.

You never stop amazing me! I am going to watch this closely. Off to a good start! Are you going to round the forehead back a bit more into the hair line ? From the pics where your at right now , see seems to be a bit in front of her hair.
Keep us posted !

| | Re: "She's a Lady" I can't imaging doing a female wood spirit to that scale. I'm presently doing a female wood spirit from a picture one of the carvers on line sent me. I find the nose the biggest challenge when doing females. I like the way you did her hair - flows very well with her face. You should do more...sort of a ying and yang thing having the female and male on the same tree. Try this sometime - I've penciled out a male with the beard merging into the female to form her hair. Might try it some day. Keep the pictures coming.
