Default Sailing Ship Relief

I have finally gotten enough done on this carving to show some progress. The pattern is one that Ash came up with on a large piece on Mahogony. It measures about 22X 30X2 1/2. It has been pretty slow going on this one I have been having trouble with the wood appearing to be too dry causing it to splinter out real bad. So to solve Ash suggested putting motor oil on it so lubricate the wood and it seems to work pretty good. Right now I am working on what I think are the sails. This is allot different from what I usually carve.
I also still have more to do on the clouds this is in the early stages.
Ron

To be in the early stages I'd have to say that this one is looking really good! Beautiful work.

Ron....as usual, I am astounded by your work....I stare at it and am completely dumbfounded as to how you can do that! It's beautiful, Ron, and I can't wait to see it finished. You've got a lot done on it already, it seems. Bonnie

I was visiting Ron today and I must tell you the Picture provided does not do the actual carving justice. I'm looking forward to seeing this one finished. The rigging on the ship will be tedious but Ron does not lack confidence, as those that know him already know.

That's a great pattern. If the finished product looks anything like your progress to-date, its going to be a very nice carving.
