Default Rough ol' Cowpoke

I haven't posted in a while and saw where Keoma had posted her doll, and thought maybe I should show what I had been up to.

This rough ol' Cowpoke has seen better days. His faded long johns have been repaired and mended too many times. Even his outer duds have been patched. At least he found some weinies to roast and still has his boots and branding iron. He is a full 6 1/4 inches tall and is made of basswood painted with acrylics mixed 60/40 with MinWax satin gloss waterbased poly.

He is headin up North this week to his new home in Illinoise.

Thanks Dan. He is really a work of love. Have been doing quite a few of these types and wasn't sure they would be welcomed here. Glad you liked him.

Thanks Sharon but don't incourage me too much.

Herb, Every one of these I make appeals to someone cause they remind them of someone they know. I guess that is the "magic" in them.

Nice job done. And a great idea too.

Before seeing Keoma doll, I also thought I could carve a wooden doll for my niece who told me, after seeing my carvings, that she would love to have vintage style wooden toys when she have children.

And that's while looking for wooden toys that I found the site with the doll template I posted as an answer for Keoma.

But I would have never thought of doing a male version of a doll. Thanks for posting your Rough ol' Cowpoke, I love it.

We need a carved version of the Kim and Barbie dolls... But we also need different names for them.

Nawww Barbie type carved doll could never stand up. She is top heavy. She would snap at the waist from carving too thin. Besides, everyone knows Ken had to hide cause Barbie got everything in the split up.

Yes boys play with make action figures and girls play with dolls. Both are carved same way only different body types!

MA, burning and carving is not the same as playing with matches and knives.
