Default Ron's Weekly Project update!!

Hello everyone here is a update on what I am working on. The first one is going to be a lumber jack from basswood. I roughed it out with a draw knife to get started. He will be 18 inches tall when finished. The second is a relief of a wolf on a cliff the I have about 80 hours in already the deepest recess areas are 1 1/8 deep and I still have some to do yet as you can see. The third is the plaque I have been working on for the guide dog school I attended. I actually painted this myself with a little help on colors. Everything to me is black & white. In the fourth pic you can see maybe how I came up with a painting guide. I took some foil and folded it about 4 times over to make it stiff but pliable and just held it around the area I intended to paint. It took me about 29 hours to paint this with oils. I had a picture of it taken and I loaded it on the computer so I could see it. Needless to say I am going to blow my own horn on this one and pat myself on the back I am very happy with the way it turned out. I was actually not believing more or less shocked that I did this but mom and katy swear they didn't do any more than help with colors. I will eventually finish it with several coats of poly to protect it. I tried to make it tactile so students at the school could actually feel the picture. Let me know what you think your'e opinions mean allot to me good or bad.
Ron

Wow, Ron! Your work is phenomenal! You can toot your horn, and get the whole darn orchestra to do it, too! You've more than earned your right to brag!

Congratulations on a fine carving!

Standing applause!
You've outdone yourself on the sign Ron.
Great job without the challenge of not being able to see it.
The wolf project looks awesome, and I will be following the new works with enthusiasm.

That is absolutly amazing Ron. We are all proud of your accomplishments and determination. You can pat yourself on the back it is really well deserved. You must be an inspiration to all those that know especially your sighted challenged friends. Excellent, Excellent work I dont think I could have done half as well and I can see.
BTW folks just so you understand what Ron goes through day after day, here is an email I just recieved from him and will share with you I know Ron wont mind if I do. There are some things he tells me in confidence and I always respect his privacy if he doent want me to mention it I dont.
Colin

Good evening Colin. I thought I would let you know the Dr visit today went well except for the weather. We have had blowing and drifting snow all day with a temp of 14 degrees. Anyway the doc said it looks real good and said I can finish weaning myself off the steriods. He also said I can use my eye a little but take it easy because it is still pretty weak. He said also that he dosen't think it will get much more strength back or any more vision back. Right now my feild of vision is the size of a dime. That is if I were to look at something all I will see is the area the size of the dime. I asked him how best to explain this to someone and he said to tell them to take a dime and hold it to whatever they wanted me to look at and that would or should give them the general idea. But he also said you have to add my vision which is now 20/1000. Which he said is what you see at 1000 feet it would have to be at 20 feet for me to see it. Well that's all the update for now but I will post some new pictures tomorrow of some projects I am working on. I am very impressed with one in particular I am very proud of the job I did on it. So I will show you all tomorrow. Thank you for being there for me my friend.
Ron
