Default The Risen Christ

Hello,

I finally finished this carving today. It is from an Ivan Whillock pattern. Jesus is basswood 14 1/2" tall with hands spread out to 10". The cross is butternut 24 1/2" x 16 1/2". I had a hard time deciding on just how to finish the Christ figure. So after many test pieces I finally decided to go with two coats of Varathane wood conditioner, one coat of Varathane Natural stain and then brushed on one coat of satin polyurethane. For the butternut cross I just used a 50/50 mix of boiled linseed oil and Watco danish oil and then a coat of spray semi-gloss polyurethane. I will be donating it to our kid's annual school fundraising auction on April 19th. Comments welcomed.

For some reason I cannot seem to post any pictures here today so please click on the link below to see some pictures at my picturetrail account.

Hey Chipper,

Congratulations! I would love to try carving Jesus someday too. If He turns out anything like yours, I'd be very happy.
