Yes very impressive indeed! I love doing these bark houses (I have 2 in progress atm). When my daughter and I were at NEWR a few weeks ago we took a bark house workshop with Harold Kaltenbach and he had done one "in the round" and mounted an LED light inside. VERY cool. He took a piece of bark cut it in half then flattend the backs of the two pieces and mated them together to get the basic shape of the exterior. Then took them apart to do the detail work and to hollow them out. Then glued them back together and completed any exterior carving to hide the seam. I assume this is the same method Rick is using? (Though I don't mean to imply that Harold did it first - I am guessing Harold learned it from Rick.) In any case, it's a VERY cool idea. LOVE Rick's work. Cheers ChuckT |

He's a pretty good guy to visit with and take a class from also. Very entertaining, knows bark carving and willing to share his expertise.
