Here is the finished house. I bought some neutral Meltonian shoe cream when I was in Colorado this summer and used that for a finish. Not bad stuff! Checked all the big western stores, while there and couldn't find any. Ended up finding it a block from my where we were staying at a little shoe repair shop. The little bits of color you see on the carving are lady bugs that I added for something different! |

Don, Your carving is looking good! Glad to see that you are still playing with some bark. I justed returned from Kitchener, ON yesterday after having done a couple classes for Dennis Moor at Chipping Away. I had a great time up there as usual. There is one thing that I'm doing different on the in the round bark houses and that is I'm using a thin cardboard (such as a cereal box) instead of a high gloss paper on the first glue up. I've found that it's a little easier to take them apart dry without all the water and mess involved the other way. After I take them apart, I do scrub all the cardboard and glue off and continue with the carving process. What happens is the cardboard will split in the center a little easier than the paper. Keep on carving! Rick Jensen a.k.a. Bark Boy |
