A friend of our community who left so much in-the-way of historic miniatures at a special place "Heritage Models" you can check out their website at Heritage Models incredible work. He died last fall, one day before I had a chance to tell him I planned to portray him in a carving. After some generous people donated a fine pine tree and others donated a base to stand it on, I went to work last week and done what I felt was one of my better carvings in hopes of satisfying the family members at the opening planned for next weekend. You probably can understand the pressure I felt, to portray such a gifted person in a way that would honor him. He was the type of person always giving people the thumbs up sign, so people thought that pose would be appropriate. Having the branch is such a place restricted the positioning of how he could stand.
