Thanks folks for kind words. Means a lot. Ya know, as I was examining the original, and as I was carving this piece, I never really viewed it as a weapon; I looked at it as a piece of art. I'm (slowly - this skull is pretty thick) understanding why my wife was questioning me the entire time I worked on it. It's a formidable weapon; one that could inflict some serious damage. I think she thought I was going to put it to use? :-) However, it sits on the mantle where I expect it to remain until I get tired of looking at it, and put it away. Ash - Yes, it is a Northwest (Tlingit) design. Tribes were hostile towards each other at times, but I can't say if something like this was used in actual engagement, or if it was used in ceremony, or both. S~
