Some months ago, I posted pictures of a replica of a Tlingit club that I'd carved. Although it was faithful to the original I'd seen in the museum, it wasn't to my liking so, I carved nearly everything away and re-carved it. I'm still not entirely thrilled with how it came out, as red cedar isn't my favorite wood to carve. I fought with it constantly. Going against/across the grain was a nightmare. However, I'm calling it done and I've moved on. The original was done by adopted Tlingit Rich LaValle, sometime in the 1960's. Red cedar finished with tung oil, sinew, and steel. S~

Looks great, but as said...vicious! I don't think there will be any doubt as to who is the boss with you wielding that thing about. LOL. Joe.

I think you are being too hard on yourself, Scooter, it was really nice the first time and it's even nicer now. Viscous is an understatement about a weapon like that. Thanks for sharing again.

Scooter , I am courious, the carving looks great . Can you tell me about the club. It looks very northwest , but I know nothing about it. Looks like a really nice job on the cedar. It can be a bit tricky working but the results are always worth the pains. Ash |

I have always been interest in weapons, that is one nice looking club and the blade is in a strange place...unless ...it was design to hit the target areas of the skull to split it? sorry ... I was in the martial arts for thirty some years. just wondering....
