Default A real challenge!

And a new experience! I was commissioned to do a carving of a little girl and her dog from a photograph. The photo was taken a couple years ago and the Mother wanted a keepsake of her young daughter and their family pet.

I told the client that it wouldn't be a 'portrait' carving. But, of course, I wanted to make it as close as possible. She's picking it up later on this week, hope she likes it! I've worried over this one....a lot!! I'm glad to have it finished and hope you all like it too! Talking Callynne

Great job, you couldn't ask for a better portrait carving. It has great detail to it and she will cherish it forever. Ron

Callynne,

Even without seeing the photo, I can tell this sculpture is very much like the photo. And I use the word "sculpture" as a compliment. For the most part, carvings have the carved look to it. If I didn't know you had carved this work of art, I would have thought it to be a ceramic figurine. And because it is so detailed, I know it has to match the photo.

Callynne, you need not worry. Your work is impeccable. If I wanted something of this nature done, you would be the first artist that I would call and commission to create a masterpiece. You are extremely talented, and very conscientious. I've never met you, but I know this because your work speaks for itself. BRAVO! Congratulations on creating such a fine piece of work.

Callynne,
Fantastic job!!!!!!! You need not be worried. That will be a keepsake forever. It is always hard to do a 3d from a picture. I get a lot of those kind of requests. I have figured out away to get a pattern out of a 2d picture but I need to refine the proccess and I want to try to submit an article to WCI once I have it down to something that everyone can understand. Emily's 10 little toes on the back view just shows your attention to detail. The whole carving just makes one want to smile. You really need to enter that one in a carving show. Borrow it back and enter it. If It places I always give the ribbon to the customer just makes the carving all that more special. You really mastered that challenge. Great work!

What a beautiful, charming piece! If for some reason your customer doesn't like it, and it's then headed for the scrap pile, let me know.....I'm known as a scrappile!
