Thanks, everybody! It really was a fun one.
@Mike - yes, I use 4 or 5 coats of neutral Danish oil on my spoons, with a final coat or two of beeswax. I tried a new Danish oil on this one - "Tried & True" - it doesn't have the noxious fumes the others do. Taking a little longer to dry, though. But overall, I think I like it. It'll just add a couple extra days of dry time to the process, but that's no big deal. I still have to put on the beeswax on this spoon. And, the spoon is 11" long.

@Bob - ha! Yeah, no kidding - you could see that, eh? it was a LOT of wood to take away. I just can't seem to resist deeper bowls and arched backs anymore. I think this piece of cherry is about 7/8" thick. Maybe a little more. Lots of rosin streaks in it, too. It's a little tedious while you're taking away the wood, but you can use bigger tools (I used my 10mm #5 on a lot of this one), and then it's just that much more gratifying when you see the nice arc in the finished piece.

Thanks, Sharon & Dan!
Bob, one more thing - your designs are becoming very elegant, already. I firmly believe that you should embrace whatever style you find developing. I've definitely been seeing a "Bob-ness" (as David Western would say) in yours, which I think is a wonderful thing. Being influenced by other styles has its merits, but having your own style is great! Also, if you keep exploring harder woods - I think you'll find it's less limiting to the design than Basswood. Keep it up!
