Roger, Made it back on-line again after computer down for 3 days. Quick question - why don't my practice pieces look that good ;O). Are you sure that's not a showpiece LOL. Beautiful work,

Jim, I don't seem to have a problem with the quality of my chips but with design. I quess I should have said design practice. LOL!

Gerry, all I did was spray lauquer on the butternut before I carved it then sprayed it again after it was carved and cleaned up. The more coats of lauquer before staining will make the surface take less stain than the cuts,

WOW Roger; Great design!!! VERY unique. I've looked @ a lot of different designs since I took an interest in carving (of all types) , but yours DEFINATELY stands out! GREAT JOB!!
