Default A Piece of "Metamorphose I"

My current work in progress is a small piece of Escher's "Metamorphose I." It is a relief carving in basswood, 4" x 16". The design moves from blocks on the left to a Mediterranean coastal village. A tower off the village seawall become the rook on a chess board and the design ends with a checkerboard pattern. I have included the pattern below the piece so you can see what it should look like.
