ok folks here are a couple from this week. the one with the hat is the peice we did in pete's class, the other is one i did this past week while sitting and watching tv. both are from just a square block 1 1/2x1 1/2x 6",with no pattern. i really like carving like this because there is no pattern that i have to deal with and the wood used for this is alot cheaper than bigger pieces. hope you enjoy happy carving bart |

Wood whittler, So, you would say that pete is a guy you would love to live next door to for a summer. but living there all year might be tiring to keep up with him ....HAW~! ??? His carvings seam to have no unplanned marks, everything so precise , i have a few of his posted charters pics and patterns from woodcarvers back issues, i have blocked out and few carved, but when i get to the face i freeze cuz i know im fixing to mess it all up.. guess i need to practice several heads and build confidense, cuz my carvings faces are just not there..... as for detail.. I would love to get a day or two with pete, if he builds enough confidence to carve without a pattern and come out that good........~!! GREAT JOB LEARNING THE TECHNIQUE..... but i turned into a recluse since i retirement. the 20 years of service took all the travle out of me. a trip to walmarts once a week is about all the traffic & public i can enjoy a week.... or has the whole world turned komi-kizi . ........?

I sure nuff would get run off weekly from the fence..!!! probably squrited with the hose a few times... i can be a pest... says the wife.... i dont get much sleep anyway as it is.. but when im excited about a project i go for days sometimes, Since i like to spend my hard earned little bit of cash here locally at the california owned book stores, i found 3 of petes books in the books a million, and hesitated to buy them, went to walden books and they were lots higher then played where did the books all go? as i got back to books a million and sold out, so was waldens, i snoosed and loosed'ed i guess... I did get the full moon saloon from fox pubs couple months back, and havent done all the critters and folks in it yet, but will be getting all 3 petes books here when uncle sam sends me back the money hes been borrowing all year. hopefully really soon ill have a check or a guy with a clipboard come to the door.... wanting to see reciepts....

mark, yes it does and the thing i like is no pattern to cut out and every piece is an original, because there is no set pattern. bart |
