Default Painting

Well As some of you know I have only been carving for a couple of weeks. Well I decided to paint a few of my carving for the first time. Went to Wal-mart purchased acrylic paints and a few brushes and decided to begin my painting....

I found out, to me at least, that painting them is as much fun as carving them. I'm no MichaelAngelo but its relaxing(the reason I choice to begin carving). Well here are my first few project painted. Hope you enjoy.

P.S. Can't wait to try the antiquing I read on here. Not to confident in trying it yet. And yes I know my son has told me already....My choices of colors leave alot to be desired......lol

P.S.P.S. I bought the begginers kit from LittleShaver and I can't seem to shave my arm hair with it anymore(no what i Mean?). I know that i'm strobing it wrong and will take some practice to perfect it, but was wondering if anyone has a video of someone strobing there knives?

Thumbs up Re: Painting

The color just brings the character out doesnt it ?

You did a good job painting them .. I think what is so much fun is what painting does to the plain raw wood .. you finally get to see the character you want ..

Keep;em coming .. you doing fine ..

They look great all painted up! Gene's videos are the best aren't they? As far as stropping goes, check out Ricks page as he has some good info on sharpening.
Sharpening Questions with Timmy
and Don Mertz at the Woodbee Carver and member has some great info as well.

Hey, you are really doing great not only with carving but painting too. I think you have done well using colors that work together pleasingly.
There is a helpful Artist palette that many walk-in and online stores sell. I'm including an image of one in particular. It shows you the primary colors etc. Also show you a general look at what two colors look like when blended together. Also, the neat thing about this particular one is that it's 'pocket size' and travels well. I think all carver's can benefit my having one of these color wheels. This one can be seen at Art Supplies from Dick Blick Art Materials
