Default Paint suggestions welcome!

Here is my latest Green Man. I feel the leaves are too light but I would like the grain of the wood to show through. Any color suggestions?

Millard:
Looks great,I agree with you,I want people to be able to see the grain,I have added a little charcoal to the color of green to shade it a little darker, but I wouldn't change anything.

Honestly, I like him like he is. You definitely haven't overpowered the wood with color and it looks just right from here. Really nice work!

The way you formed the leaves around his eyes really make them stand out. Can't comment on the leaf color as it looks fine from your photo. Great looking Greenman. Add this to the long list of carvings I need to try.

Millard, I personally wouldn't touch it, the green is there and it doesn't distract from the image, I sure wouldn't darken it.

Looks great! My only suggestion would be to mount in on a lighter colored base....say natural basswood. That would make your carving "Pop" right off the board.

Millard ,

I think the leaves look great, Nice carving. If I were to change anything , it would be to darken the backboard slightly , to highlight that excellent beard.

That's a beautiful piece of carving, I wouldn't put paint on it at all, just an oil finish. Thanks for sharing it with us.
