Default Not exactly new -

One of my earlier attempts at translating a 2 dimensional drawing into a carving. I just dug this out of a box of junked projects I'd forgotten about.

Roughly 10 x 8 inches, 3/4 thick, yellow cedar. I remember spraying it completely black trying to imitate argylite (a soft black stone found only in Haida Gwaii off northern BC)

A Raven, if you couldn't tell. Thinking about cleaning it up a bit or maybe even carving an entirely new one.

Y'know, its been so long I'm not sure why I chucked it aside. I do know the piece of yellow cedar it was carved from was kind of knotty, the grain was diving in and out of itself, a couple of large chips just sort of popped out and had to be glued back in place (another reason why I sprayed it black) and in general, I just wasn't too happy with it.

Oh yeah, the foot really bugged me.

Well, like I said, I am thinking about redoing it. Until then, maybe the attached photo will give you a slightly better look.

Nice carving Whitecree, don't know why you'd have set it aside. I've lightened the last picture so as to see the detail better. It is really an outstanding carving, in my humble opinion.
