| | Re: New Walking Stick Darren ,
shows improvement, abd your skills are getting better as your details are becoming more pronounced.
I would like to see a side view. Because as the frontal view , the mouth looks a bit wide . And the chin seems to be missing.
Keep up the good work mate.

| | Re: New Walking Stick I've been waiting to see one of your carvings Darren...haven't seen a picture posted from you for some time. Great carving. I think I know where Ash is going with the chin...as I struggle with this part of the face.
Even though there's a beard, there's a chin under there somewhere's. Your features are right on so keep up the good work.

| | Re: New Walking Stick Darren, got your phone message way too late. Didn't know you had a stick on the forum. Good job , I would be interested also to see how to show the chin under the beard. And where did you scrounge up the leather lacing |

| | Re: New Walking Stick Darren,
The comment about the chin, was from the picture, it looks as if the beard starts right under the lips and just drops. Making it appear to be very flat, when it should be a bit lower and a beard that has Straight hair, will follow the flow of the face even more so than a wavy beard. Making the chin more pronounced. A face is very proportionate, the lips should end very close to the center of the eye sockets. The lip on the left does a good job of the the one on the right is a bit overcut.
But as he might be smirking a bit, it works , but a smirk will again pull the chin up to a more pronounced line.
Well done looking forward to the next one.
