Default New Relief Project

Here is a new pattern that Ash etched on wood for me with his laser. It is on a peice of basswood 1 1/2X16X21. The pattern is from Lora Irish's book Landscapes in Relief. Feels like a real challenging project. The lighter areas you see are the areas I have started to remove wood. The upper background is already recessed 1inch. Now I am working on the windows that show clear through to the horizon and other areas that are the same depth. I am also working at another project that I will post on another thread. This way I can switch off and on to the different ones.
Ron

Ron, I'll look forward to watching you do your magic on it.
The design is really beautiful.

Tell us more about transfering the pattern with a laser. I'm still using carbon paper! Are there size limits?

Ron ,

Glad you sarted with the easy one. rofl

Pallin , perhaps i can answer you question, ther are some size limts but it is really more of work around, the only one that is a bit restrictive is the 11 inch thickness, outside of the if you really wanted to , you could do a pattern the size of a football field . if you want no joints 3 ft by 2 ft I am right now doing a layout 8 foot x 10 ft for a church wall in marble.

Ron.s patterns are inversed as I raise the lines of the pattern like braille , for someone with eyesight the can be placed for a v tool with a groove line. Just a matter of deciding which way they work better .
