| | Re: New Project No. 2 very nicely done. you got good likeness of he coloring. in face, and on legs too. i like the eyes you made, they line up correctly. if you meant you want carve a little more on the claws, yes i would suggest that. just try rounding them a little more, to give more a pawlike feel. other than that i would not change anything. great, amazing work. and very inventive with the tape to guide your painting. thanks for sharing. |

| | Re: New Project No. 2 Ron,
I know you really want him done , but since you know how I am.....
You need to round him more, the head is block-like the legs as well. The legs look shallow at the shoulder.
From the pictures the inside of the leg looks good at the top and look like they flair out at the bottom. It might be what I am looking at , but you have set a high standard for you carvings and looks like your rushing this one.
Take a day clear your mind then spend some time petting the real one and then look at the carving again. It is good now , but it can be better.
only my opinion
Garry

It looks very good so far. You've got a vast amount of talent. I also like your shop setup as well. |

| | Re: New Project No. 2 Thanks Garry I thought it felt a little blocky. I have to be careful with the legs they are pretty fragile. But I will try and taper them more. I'm in no hurry I have all the time in the world. The reason I painted I thought it would be seen better. My helper is out of town also so I don't have her to point out all the faults or places for correction. I think I will work on the relief for a day or so and come back to this one. Thanks for your input. |

The dog looks great. I'll bet the original got tired of being felt up though. You have a much better memory that mine by the way.
P.S. do I remember you saying it doesn't help to enlarge the message font?
