Default New Chip Carved Plate

This is a chip carved plate I started today as a gift for my sister on her 80th birthday. It will have a rosette and leaves in the center and similar relief designs in the spaces between the petals of the chip carving.

It is 12" diameter, basswood.

Very nice work, Phil. That's going to be beautiful when you finish it. Your sister will love it. There is no better gift than something you do with your own hands.

Thanks everyone for your compliments. The project continues to go well. Here is a photo at the end of the first day's work (and I watched college football in the evening)

Nice Phil! Mixing the relief with the chip carving is going to make this a very nice plate.
