| | Re: New cane, Golden Eagle Nice cane bob that is really well done. Love the detail where the beak meets the feather's very realistic. Now that the snow is going I cant wait to get out and find some new sticks to try. Really nice cane my friend.

| | Re: New cane, Golden Eagle G'day Bob et al,
Love the cane, a really fine piece of work. My only concern would be that should the cane be for someone who would need to have it shortened to suit them, what would happen to your oh so nicely carved claws ![001[1]3424](http://www.woodcarvingillustrated.com/forum/images/smilies/001[1]3424.gif) Of course you could make sure that it only went to someone tall enough to be sure that situation never arises.....Just my opinion, and in no way meant to detract from something that I personally, would be proud to own. Thanks for sharing
John

| | Re: New cane, Golden Eagle Thank you all for your kind words and encouragement. John, I made the cane for myself, I love having a choice of canes when I go out. I do commissions, but I size the recipient first, or leave the bottom uncarved, depending on the order.
I have so many other raptors I want to carve into canes yet, Merlin, Perigrine Falcon, etc, I have it in my head to carve one of each raptor in Floyd's book "Birds of Prey".......but, we'll see! The remainder will be painted, this one I left natural because of the beauty of the wood, resembled the Golden Eagle anyway.
As for ships Ron...... I have a half model on the stocks currently, almost ready for paint. She's a long lean Scottish built clipper, with a rounded forefoot and sleek lines. Been preparing the deadeyes for the Marco Polo as well, almost ready to start installing and rigging.
