| | New Barn Project! Here is a new project I have been working on. This is a pattern that Ash (Garry) created with a laser. I will let him explain all the details and such. The original pattern is One of Susan's(Irish). Garry and Susan and I have been discussing how to do these and I am very impressed with the pattern. I have another one to start on maybe this afternoon when I get back from the gym. I also had the pleasure of visiting with Susan on the phone and I had a great time visiting with her she is a very special person and would like to meet her in person someday. Anyway here it is I need some feedback good or bad let me have it. I also think I will mention not that it makes no difference to the carving but to keep from creating another thread. The best way to put it is the light at the end of my tunnel went out Sunday evening and hasn't came back on and more than likely will not. Thought I would let everyone know.

| | Re: New Barn Project! Hey Ron! First of all WOW. I am totally stunned at what you have accomplished with this pattern. So see me jumping up and down with joy and a great big grin on my face with pride for you.
Your depth is excellent. You have established each layer clearly as to where it falls in the pattern. The silo is well behind the barn and the small structure on the barn roof is clearly behind the barn's front wall.
The roof overhang is well pushed into the barn wall on your right side and the front corner of that wall comes forward to become the highest point of the carving. The detail carving is right on target.
OK ... You don't get off Scott free. See me grinning again. I think the silo could be a bit more round on the barn side of the carving. This is not necessary but would give a little better depth to that side.
Now, put your finger in the upper corner of the window on your right side. Move your finger towards the silo to a middle point between one and two o'clock. When you touch the silo feel for the top metal ring. This ring is slightly off level. It tilts to your left. The lower two metal rings are very accurate.
So if you drop the left side of the silo to round it over a touch you will be able to level that metal ring at the same time.
Ron! I am so very proud of you and what you have done here!!!!
Big Grins and cheers, Susan |

| | Re: New Barn Project! Thanks Susan I was concerned about the area between the silo and barn. If it was defined enough to show it behind. I will work on the things you mentioned. Thanks for your help.

| | Re: New Barn Project! Ron,
There is not much to explain , I am basically just giving Ron an outline of a raised edge. No depth , just an edge he can feel. From there it is all Ron. The pattern is the same as a person would draw for themselves , just raised.
Ron,
your work is always amazing to me. Now , I am on my way to check the post office. For our next project line up .

| | Re: New Barn Project! Ron, I have never tried to carve relief, but I think I can tell the good ones from the not so good ones. I believe that your barn is one of the good ones. My vocabulary is not extensive enough to truly describe how I feel about the carving that you do. I would have to go to the thesaurus for the words. But I do know one that might work, WOW!
