| | Re: Need opinions, yes opinions An excellent job Kenny, and, by-the-way you are one heck of a diplomat. You asked for opinions and managed to incorporate everybody's advice into the carving. He could be santa or he could be a victorian gentleman celebrating Christmas. Very well done from both a carving and following advice standpoint. |

| | Re: Need opinions, yes opinions Paul, Thank you. However, I don't know about being a diplomat. Sometimes I nee to keep my mouth shut but don't.
I do value opinions, suggestions and try to achive a better carving piece.
I was happy with this one and have cut out several more blanks and will try to come up with several of these as now the wife, daughter, Son, sister-in-law(not the one who displays my carving above the throne in the bathroom),wants one just like that one. Oh Hum, they are never satidfied.
When I am carving and have completed a piece, I usually know what or how I want to paint it if i paint it at all. This one, I finished carving it but decide to ask for opinions or suggestions, I recieve very good one. Matter of fact, I thought all were great ones. The fur was the one I hit on as I was not sure how to go about it but decide that if it did not come out right I could just carve it back to a smooth surface. I surprised myself on this one.
Now, I have used that same style in a 3 x 1 1/2 x 1 inch Santa ornament with a long beard. Will post pictures of it when I finish painting it.
However, I am going to tryu washes again and tomorrow, heading to Hobby Lobby to get some water colors. Will use them on the next one.
Thank you for the kind compliments. |

When you press down the shutter button on your camera are you holding it very still? Set the camera on "AUTO" and push down the button just half way allowing the lens to automatically focus before pushing it all the way down to snap the picture? Mike
