| | Need opinions, yes opinions I have a top hat carving and started out to be a Santa face but decided top hat. I want to paint the carving piece as a Santa with a red top hat with decorations around the top hat. However, My little bride says it is a stately gentleman from the south, My Dayghter says it looks like a English man.
I thought that mabe the English would have a "Sir Santa".
Ok, what do you all think.
Sorry for the quality of photo. Still trying the suggestions on this camera. |

| | Re: Need opinions, yes opinions I'd sat he looks like a character from Dickens...so I guess that'd be English. However, square his beard at the bottom a little and maybe - Santa. Anyway he's cool! Tom H |

| | Re: Need opinions, yes opinions Of course you'd expect me to vote for Santa .... I do. I think he should be Santa. Just put some holly around the band of his hat. |

| | Re: Need opinions, yes opinions He looks more like one of the unsmiling "gentlemen" from the early days of photography. When they had to be very still for a very long while. He does not look "stern" enough for an early period Santa, nor jolly and kind enough for those of a later period. I guess my vote is along the lines of an Englishman type.
Took another look and love the beard and know there must be a bald head under that hat! |

| | Re: Need opinions, yes opinions Kenny,
The top hat that you carved is from the Victorian period style that was first used in London. But these hats soon spread out across the world. They were seen from London to Japan. The style was slightly modified by the 1850's and again by the 1900's.
So the choice is stricly up to you , He is well carved and easy to make him anyway you want.
