For the life of me I cannot figure out what to do with the little pop-knot off the side of the forehead. I almost cut it off, but decided to go to you all for advice. Just wondering what to do.

If it was mine, I would leave it and maybe round the edges off a little, sand it smooth. Looks good!

If you really don't want to leave it simple as kenny suggests, then I'd convert the end of the stub to a pom-pom and carve the rest to look like a stocking cap. Claude |

woodtrapper, you could clean it up a bit and use a peice of contrasting wood to make like a button on it,, or maybe a peice of deer antler and then a wooden button using a darker or lighter wood which ever is opposite of the wood color in the cane. bart |

Your face reminds me of an old trapper or mountain man, so why not turn that protrusion into a bear's head? It would fit and make for a striking handle to your cane! Bob

I agree with , Bob, only instead of the bear I see a wild boar, it has almost natural lines for it , But nice piece which ever you do. Ash |

Could even be a big old buffalo, has a nice hump there for the shoulder and lowered head. Lots of things, and everyone will see something different. Bob

Could make it an eagles head....or as I did to one cane I made.....I cleaned it up, sanded, finished and put a US Navy lapel pin on the flat...you could put any type lapel pin that struck your fancy.

Option #1 Cut it off and round off the end of the handle. Option #2 Carve something simple like a ball, button, etc. Option #3 Carve something more intricate like an eagle, bear, etc. For cases like this I usually set it aside and look at it for a week or two until something clicks. |
