| | N.Amer.Indian I have quite a ways to go yet, but here is my version of a North American Indian from Jeff Phare's book. The wood is birds eye maple...very, very hard wood. It was given to me while away on vacation. This carving stands approximately 3 feet high.
I roughed out pretty near everything I will be shaving down and detailing. I still have to relief a number of areas. He has a strong chin so that may need to be honed down a bit. I expect the wolf head will be my biggest challenge to shape.

| | Re: N.Amer.Indian Nice one Patrick and in Birds Eye Maple, no less.
Me thinks you are a carver for sure.
I don't know about the long ways to go as this one is really nice. Nice strong chin. NAs have a wider chin than white eyes. |

| | Re: N.Amer.Indian Looking good so far, Patrick! I've done a couple of items from maple and I agree it's hard - beautiful wood, though.

| | Re: N.Amer.Indian Great job Patrick! Great book isn't it?? I carved that one a couple of times only mine would probably be considered a minature compared to yours...I think mine was about 5 or 6" tall. Look forward to seeing it finished!

| | Re: N.Amer.Indian Looking forward to this one Patrick. Should be an interesting piece, you have a great start made. Maple....you do choose an interesting wood to do it in! Must be quite a challenge. Enjoy.
