Default My sincere apology to Charles Schulz!

This is the second Snoopy that I'd attempted to carve. I didn't have a pattern at the time so I scanned a cartoon from the internet and ran it through Irfanview. Also I didn't have any 2" stock so I glued together some 1" rough cut that I had laying around. It was some pretty narly southern basswood and was dark in color somewhat between that of cedar and mahogany. When I went to apply a finish it wouldn't take a wash so I ended up priming it with gesso and then applying an opaque finish with regular acrylics. I used a satin water based polyurethane to seal it. This is another one of my vacation projects that I've gotten around to paint since my knives are still off llimits. I'm thinking that perhaps I ought to stick to bears????

Hi Eddy,

That's a great Snoopy carving. I certinly wouldn't apologize for him. In Fact, if Charles was still around, he'd thank you. I think the gesso worked well since Snoopy is white and a wash would look milky.
