Default My Next Project-Doing The Research

In my search for a subject for a new project, I came across this webpage which turned on the "lightbulb"!

http://www.thestudigroup.com/

Talk about source material!! I did a full figure of Magua, the Wes Studi character in Last of the Mohicans a few years back so I guess it's time I paid him another visit and try a bust version. Should be fun...lots of color and add-on's. With the Kansas City show coming up the end of this month I'd better get busy!

site Lynn

Since I started carving faces, Magua has been on my list too. I just recently purchased the movie on DVD to study the character.

Can’t wait to see what you do

Lynn, can't wait to following along on Magua. I love the characters Wes Studi has protrayed even the really, really bad guy in Dances With Wolves. He has such wonderful features and I seen some sculpture work by others of him. Now will your version be a caricature or realistic?
I know you'll go a terrific Wes Studi.
Kathy

The show is March 23 & 24 in Lees Summit which is just south of KC. A real nice show in a real nice location. Last year it was well attended with some really fine work in just about every category. Good bird carvers!

Ed Zinger is the show chairman and you can get him at

Spent the morning cutting trees and grinding stumps so didn't get much done on the figure. Did manage to get the head and bust roughed out. Looks pretty good. Will post a photo later!
