Really neat Colin. Carving letters and numbers is my least favorite part of carving. You, however, have done a masterful job. I really like the guy next to the Maple leaf. Looks like he is real PO'd. Think someone must have stepped on his tail or somethin'. Great job.

Thanks for all the wonderful comments and advice the lady still has not been in to see it yet I have to call her tomorrow I am thinking she has changed her mind Christmas is only six days away. I am hoping that the Crystal Cote will be here tomorrow they shipped it to me priority post cost three times as much to ship it as to buy it but that is no problem when you cant get it, it is a small price to pay.

Hi Colin

Sorry I haven't posted before this, but I've been running to my Dad in the hospital. He should be coming home today.

The sign looks good. I agree with the others--lighten the letters. The sign needs to be brightened. If the wood was lighter in color, then I would use a darker color on the letters. Anything in the "pastel" colors would probably work. To use a strong color like traditional yellow or white would probably overshadow everything else. Like Hi_Ho suggested, a yellow wash, or maybe a light blue would probably work well. I was thinking maybe a "neon" color, but that might be too much. The woman will like it. She probably hasn't been by because of getting ready for the holiday, and besides, where do you hide a sign?!? LOL

The lady finally came by the studio today. She absolutly loves the carving but didnt think I was going to put that much detail into it. I am still waiting for the crystal cote they shipped it priority mail on Friday but with the Christmas rush it may be delayed. My saving grace is that she wants me to keep it until Christmas Eve so lets hope that the crystal cote gets here in the next two days.

Just found this thread. Great job Colin, Myself, I would hate to put paint on the letters. Love those spirit faces. She wants to have that sign under lock and key.

Just noticed this thread again. Curiosity got the best of me. Did the lady pick up the sign you carved for her? If she did good deal!! If she didn't.....what a ding dong!!

Sorry Guys forgot with everything that went on over the holidays to update the thread. Yes the lady picked it up Christmas Eve she was really thrilled with it and had the same concerns. She said if they put it outside someone would steal it for sure. She also dropped by on Boxing Day to tell me how much the guys loved the carving. I was really thilled as it was the first sign I had done. Thanks all for the great comments and suggestions. BTW I left it as it was and didnt paint or lighten anything.
