| | My first attempts at carving - I took the plunge. Dusted off a set of exacto knives that had been lying around my shop for several years, went to Woodcraft and purchased three blocks of Basswood, and downloaded a few of the free carving patterns.
My very first attempt was a total disaster- ended up in the trash bin.
The little hombre was my very first complete carving and my first attempt at painting.
I followed that with the tribute to the Firemen. Lesson learned on the first two blocks helped make the third attempt a lot easier.

| | Re: My first attempts at carving - Very nice for the 2nd and 3rd carvings! We have people in our club who use exacto knives exclusively and make great things. Glad you jumped in1

| | Re: My first attempts at carving - Your first wasn't a disaster,,,it was merely a lesson in what doesn't work,,,see,,you learned something and that was your fee to learn it!
Now two and three are looking just fine. Great start. And that's the most important thing,,you started. Now you're well on your way with more to learn with each cut.Don't stop,,,keep going. The third will make the fourth easier yet,,,unless you start trying new and bigger things,,,then more tools,,then sharpening,,then,,then,,then,,, |
