| | My first attempt at a Mark Gargac ornament.. Oh what fun it was to do this project and I learned a few things while doing it. First time I ever carved basswood and I really enjoyed the way it carves. I have been working on my noses and the article really helped me with that. I have never painted a carving so that is another first. I do have a question i have another coat of deft to spray yet and I have looked all over for the Watco satin finishing wax can someone tell me is there something else I can use or where to find it. Thanks for looking and comments or suggestions are always welcome...Bruce |

| | Re: My first attempt at a Mark Gargac ornament.. Great lookin carving, Bruce. You folks are all doing such a fine job with Marks tutorial, that I am afraid that if I did it I'd screw it up. Wow! seems that theres going to be a lot of Mark Gargac type ornaments out there. It's gettin harder to tell the difference too. This is a credit to Mark and his willingness to share his talent, as well as the talent of you who have completed the tutorial. Again, great job, Bruce.

| | Re: My first attempt at a Mark Gargac ornament.. Hey, great work on your Gargac Santa! As for the Watch satin wax I haven't used it yet either. I do want to but need to find it too. I think True Value Hardware may carry it. So in the mean time I just use Danish Oil, then paint with oil paints or acrylics and then spray with Deft satin.

| | Re: My first attempt at a Mark Gargac ornament.. Great carving! I just ordered Mark Gargac's Santa DVD today--I could use some help with carving spirits and Santas. It's encouraging when I see other people's work turn out so great! Thanks for posting!

| | Re: My first attempt at a Mark Gargac ornament.. You'll be hooked like the rest of us so I expect you'll be carving some more of this style. Yes Mark does a great job of walking you through each step. You'll have to try his larger mask now.
