| | Re: Mountain Man in White Pine All I can say is WOW.You did a great job.I love the eyes on him,look so real.I,m attempting to do an old man bust,from Harold Enlows book.Everything is fairly good,except the eyes.Just can seem to get them right.Oh well,just keep on tryin.At least I have your mountain man for inspiration.

After all this time viewing chisel carvings on this site, its seems impossible to me that you can do such things with chisels and knives. I'll say it again, very nice detailed work. |

| | Re: Mountain Man in White Pine Hugh, I sealed the carving with tung oil with some thinner to help with the drying. The pictures posted only have one coat. I typically put on three coats. I picked up some stain the other day so I may start using it with the oil to give some more color to my carvings...however, I like the natural grain of the wood so we'll see.
