Default Mantel in progress

I have been working on this one for about a month now. I decided to show how far I have gone with this one . I think the first row of trees on the right are two thick in the trunk so I need to pay some attention with those. The wood is pine and is 10 inches high and five feet long and is 6 inches in depth . This is the one with the tree that split The advice on how to repair my work was beyond what I expected but for all those who did reply on this forum a great full thankyou. Still a long way to go yet .

Magnificent!!! I can see why you were shattered to see the two pieces coming apart at the tree you'd carved. A lot of work there and very fine carving indeed. Thanks for sharing. What did you do in the end? Just reglued the tree section, or reglued the lot? Joe.

what I did was force the right glue into the crack then rub sawdust in and then weight it down and it worked then I tooled the section to fad it into the work I couldn't tell when I was done . Hopefully nothing else goes wrong.

Amazing job you're doing there, Bob. That's going to be quite a mantel when you are finished. Thanks for sharing and keep us updated on your progress.

Bob, that is a real good looking mantle. I have done a couple of them and they didn't look that nice. Keep up the good work, ( maybe I mean keep up the good fun).
