| | A little ship progress...WIP Hi folks,
Sorry that I haven't posted much lately, but I am feeling better and healing well, so should be back to my normal self soon. Have done a little work on the model...added waterways (light blue inside the bulwarks), painted and installed the deck cabins, skylight, ladderway, launch and binnacle. She is beginning to take shape. but from her on you have to look close for progress, one little fitting can take a week to build. Almost time to add masts and spars.

| | Re: A little ship progress...WIP Great looking progress, Bob! I'm still gonna pick your brain this winter for the "Boomerang" model. Still have to get down to the harbor to get the photos and measurements though. Love those old wooden boats......jus tnot the upkeep!

| | Re: A little ship progress...WIP Bob: I'm enjoying the continuing progress and just as much I am also learning more of the "high seas" terminology. I must say that I had to open up the dictionary some on your posting this time since my limited Captain's experience is limited to only several thousand miles in a canoe! I am very aware of things like keel, deck, stern, port, starboard, gunnel, thwarts, etc since I taught Red Cross Canoeing for many, many years but some of this terminolgy is both new and interesting. So a binnacle is "a case for the ship's compass"... now that is interesting since I was expecting it to have something to do with the accumulation of barnacle on the ships bottom. I'm still learning!
Secondly, you are perhaps setting the gold standard for posting WIP's with such a long-time, ongoing project and sharing the progress as you go. It's more like looking at a good movie instead of just viewing a quick trailer like some of my own recent WIP's. I probably would have preferred it to be all in one single thread but that's just me and I'm glad to get it any way I can. |

| | Re: A little ship progress...WIP Bob, Looks great. I admire your work and dedication. I have a friend who builds ships but most from kits, However, the detail work that goes in to one amazes me. |

| | Re: A little ship progress...WIP Bob that is a fantastic job. You have the patience of Job I'm sure. The detail you put in your ships is the very essence of the work, it is really mind boggling to watch all the tiny details that go into your ship. You have a very special talent. Glad to see you back posting again. |

| | Re: A little ship progress...WIP Thank you folks, it is good to be back and able to do even a little carving. Things are healing up fine, just slow, but then I've always been impatient when it comes to healing.
