| | Lily Cross Spoon - WIP My current carving project is creating a spoon for as a gift for a family member. This is carved from basswood.
My plans for finishing are to use stain on the cross, a deep teak or possibly chestnut, and to use watered down acrylics to paint the lily and the bowl of the spoon. |

Right now I have a whitewash on the lily and bowl. I hope to get the colours onto the lily tonight. Tomorrow will be the stain. |

| | Re: Lily Cross Spoon - WIP I've finally finished. The colours were added and allowed to dry, then I took a 1500 grit sandpaper to it to "rough" the paint a bit. I used a spray polyurethane to seal it. AS an experiment I used a thin layer of orange oil and wax over the poly. I haven't decided if it did anything much less whether it was positive or negative. |

| | Re: Lily Cross Spoon - WIP Kitaye,
That spoon is just beautiful. Sure to be an heirloom. I have been carving spoons lately, but they are not good enough to post pics. Anyway, you did a terrific job on it. Thanks for sharing.
