Ron, I cut out the blank with a scroll saw, then it's all hand tools & sandpaper after that. I don't saw very well, either, so almost everywhere I saw ends up getting cut further. I use mostly 4 palm tools: an 8mm #5 gouge, an 8mm skew, and a 3mm #5 gouge, plus a 6mm #7 gouge to help scoop out the bowl.
