| | Latest Gnome and Mushrooms I needed a quick little carving for a Christmas carving exchange. The scene is about 3 inches by 5 inches. The mushrooms are carved from Canadian white pine, and just sanded, waxed, and buffed. The Gnome is 3 inches tall. The Gnome and base are plain ol basswood with a wash of paint. I don't think the carving style is completely flatplane, but it may be approaching it.
Other then carving the hat so it sits lower on the head, any suggestions for improvements...Thanks
Tom H

Great job! I went on your gallery and checked things out. Great stuff, especially the little elf or wizard reding the book under the mushrooms. Nice! |

| | Re: Latest Gnome and Mushrooms Oh yes.. he's adorable for sure!!
I love the rock work you've got him standing on. I'm working on a large fireplace and walls for a dollhouse doing that same type of rock work. I still have to paint each rock and relief carve the mantel on the fireplace.
Here's a lil bit of a challenge Tom..can you carve these lil gnomes and have moving arms on them? Pegged style? If so.. you may have buyers in the gnome world. I've come across some amazing 'homes' and folks are looking for the little gnomes to go in them. |
