Very nice bowl.I love the finish and the grain.

Nice bowl Dileon. I have been thinking about triing a bowl what kind of tools did you use. Might be a good reason to have to buy new tools. Hal

Hi Di,

Okay, now I can see why you haven't been posting. Busy carving.

What a great fruit bowl. Did you carve it all by hand? or did you use a lathe?

I used my angle grinder with Kutzall donuts for the outside. Used my TX Foredom with the Sabruu two inch buzz wheels and the Kutzall and Sabruu blaster burrs. Can not say enough about these large carbide burrs for roughing out with power. My Foredom did not like hollowing this out...so had to go to more power with a die grinder. I made a bunch of spoons with the burrs above but sent them out for Christmas. I do not have a lathe. Sanding most of it was done by hand.
I do not know where to get the monkey pod,...this was given to me from KMS....it does grow here in the islands. I know they turn giant vases down the street, next time I see him...I will ask him about mailing out wood. It is hard here, as wood has to go through agricultural inspection for bugs...if it has bugs it does not leave or come into the islands. I talked to a lot people who has lost their shipments to the island due to bugs. As I always worry major when ordering wood ... please, please no bugs, or I will loose my money and shipping cost.
I had some wood come from China, the martial artist I made,.. and customs got it. They were not looking for bugs but drugs hidden inside the wood. Thank goodness they did not chop it up!! which they do.. I was so grateful to get it all in one whole piece!!!!...honestly the worry is not worth the money invested. What I need to do is find a good mainland source of exotic wood.. wood craft sells it too...expensive.
Anyway my computer is getting ready to be kicked down the street, something is major wrong with it.... so I am going to try to post more pictures before it kicks on me.
I cannot say enough appreciation for everyones kind words are so special to me. The last few days have been unable to carve...due to severe arthritis ouch, ouch...so I have down days....they are good to play with the computer and update everything.as.... I have been just eating, sleeping and carving the last few months. Di
