| | Just Like "JustCarving's" Bears! I couldn't let "JustCarving" have all the fun. These are great little projects to throw in a pocket and take along to whittle when you've got nothing else to do! I had so much fun with these (and I still have at least a dozen more blanks cut out to go) that during Fox Chapel's last clearance sale I picked up a copy of Gary Batte's "Carving Caricature Pins & Bolos." Now I've got so many ideas I don't know where to start!
Thank's Bob for letting me borrow your bear pattern!

Excellent Eddy!! I've got a smile on my face! Somebody else is addicted to these things!! I like the paint jobs on them. I have all to do to get the eyes and the noses painted on them. I have been painting a little red heart on the chest as my signature--THAT YA CAN'T HAVE!!!! MINE--I TELL--MINE!!!!
Eddy and everyone else are welcome to use the pattern. I borrowed it from Woodcarvers.org where it's listed as an ornament pattern.
Hope to see more of DA BEARS from you and others! The smiles you get are priceless!!
Eddy how big did you make yours? I have made them in different sizes--I vary the height by half inch increments. Helps to break up the pace and I've grown to like carving the ones at the 2" end--but they can be tough on the hands. The 3" ones are good but they're better for magnets or ornaments.
JimSawyer--they are great for refrigerator magnets--but it's tough to keep them from raiding the fridge!! LOL
BTW--Eddy, I got the same book, too. I looked at it once and I got a headache from all the ideas that popped into my head!! LOL
