| | "Just the Bear Necessities" A while back I ran across an old issue of Carving Magazine in which there was an article on Carving A Bear by Lynn Diel. They did a real nice job on the tutorial so I decided to try my hand and started carving the little bear first (5" tall). I was having so much fun that even before I was finished I decided to try carving him on a little larger scale. The big bear is 9" tall. The little bear is carved out of basswood and the big bear is carved from empress wood. You might say he's a "green" bear, totally recycled from the remnants of a karate school board breaking seminar. It's absolutely amazing what you can do with some scrap wood, wood glue and clamps!
