Default Indian with Wolf Cape finished

Here are some pics of the Indian with Wolf Cape that I started a month or so ago. I think it turned out pretty good. Much better than I expected.

As always, your suggestions and comments are appreciated.

Thanks for looking!

Blake

Very nice job! I really feel that you did well in capturing that classic Indian face showing some serious introspection which speaks volumes. That's something that I always try to capture in my Indian faces and don't always succeed.

Thanks for posting!

I think it turned out pretty good too. It's fun to see you progress with your carvings. The only thing that I would question, are the eyes just a bit far apart? But then, a wider nose is proper, which would push the eyes further apart. Maybe one of the experts will jump in here. Looks good!

Good job Blake. I purchased Jeff Phares book to carve the same bust. You have definitely captured the distinct lines and features of the model outlined in his book. I plan to attempt the same carving as soon as my jig is completed so I can remain upright while I carve. I even picked up a large piece of basswood from my instucture so I'm anxious to try this type of wood. Basswood is not readily available in my area and it sounds like the wood of choice for many of the carvers on-line.

Great job Blake. What kind of wood is it?

Thanks for sharing.
