Gary, great job. I do not think that it needs to be any more fancy or elaborate - really good carving.

MA, burning and carving is not the same as playing with matches and knives.

Gary,

Very nice carving, and to top it all off, I'm guessing that the width of the bark is roughly 5-6 inches, well done with the details and facial structure.

I really love three specific details in your composition that are worth a notation of a job well done:

1) The right eyes lower lid "S" curve shape to it: "Fantastic Look"

2) Only one hair braid on the right and the hair just falling loose on the left side, many of us would have automatically placed two braids: "Looks Great"

3) Two details are hidden here that I really love how you incorporated them into your design with the characteristics of the bark. Mentally you can look at the face and draw a letter "X" from the tip of the right feather down to the tip of the left hair tip, and vise versa with the other left feather to right hair tip. In the "X" design, the left feathers tip is uncompleted and brought out to the barks black edge and you tied that in with the right hair tip being uncompleted and brought out to the barks black edge. With the opposing "X-Line" having completed tips on both ends. "Fantastic Design"

A carving design well done and worth mentioning, great design Gary.

Bill

Wonderful carving job, Gary. I love it just as you have it. The face IS the focal point, has a very pensive expression, and I love what you did with it. Bonnie
