| | Indian done almost Well it is done cept for a day of hand rubbed wax.It just has BLO on it for now and when it drys the wax process will begin. It is a 18" by 7" piece of very dry cottonwood and I think If I keep using this stuff I am going to have to get a burner to do the hair and some other details cause this stuff just likes to tear out to much. Hope you like it. Tell me what you think , I can take it. Patrick I WILL do a female face soon. Just need to get a little better and get my nerve up to try it. Remember I am still a rookie, after a year and thats just a few months away I will give it a shot. Thanks for looking, Vince |

| | Re: Indian done almost Very nicely done Vince. Great detail. I only have one comment that is ask a friend to tilt their head back so you can look at a face from underneath and you will see the shape of the lips and how far they actually go back. I took Neil Cox's seminar and he taught us how to use two hand held mirrors to see the shape of our faces from every angle. It's tricky but you can be done and I use the mirrors once in a while, specially when I look at my carving and something just doesn't seem right.

| | Re: Indian done almost Andy I see just what you are saying. I cut back on that area one time for that same reason and did not go back far enough. Thanks for the advice. Now all I have to do is remember on the next one. I will get it right some day. These are the things that keep me carving. Vince

| | Re: Indian done almost Hey Vince. Another fine carving. The choker turned out very well for you. So your going to try a female style carving...be ready for a challenge. Having said that, Andy here seems to have no problem carving feminine features. I guess its about that time that I carved another female. I'm still trying to go back and finishe the gargoyle however. Look forward to seeing your next posing.

| | Re: Indian done almost Vince, that is a really nice carving. I'm impressed with how fine and smooth the surface texture is. There are some carvings in which I like to be able to see the carving facets and then others, such as yours, which is best suited to a smooth, almost glassy surface. Yours stands out nicely in contrast to the natural, rough look of the log itsself.

| | Re: Indian done almost absolutely amazing Vince. Wish I'd half that talented as a rookie - or even now! I like your idea about burning, and think it'll enhance the look alot.
Way to go!!! |
