Default Indian Bust

#1)Progress overview, I have marked in where a bear claw necklace will be carved, the hair and hair line, center line at the top of the headdress, and where the bottm of the shirt will be, and also marked in is where the bear skin is falling over the shoulders.#2) Carving wood off the top of the shoulder and relieving the hair along the side of the head. #3) I am taking a small v-tool and carving , slightly under cutting the headdress.#4) Pencil pointing to the previous cut.#5) Overview. I have 6.5 hours into the carving to this point.

Mark , this is a carving I am doing for a commission. I have already begun working on a on line tutorial for carving a Mtn. Man Walking Stick, it should be ready to go live in about 3 weeks. Thanks for the comment and looking.

Nice work Mark. Hopefully, you'll have the finished piece in Dayton? Sure would like to see it completed.

Thanks all,for the comments. I will post some photos on carving eyes on this fella this weekend, and to conclude with the finished piece Sunday Night. Lynn, if the carving turns out well, then most likely I will be taking it to the Dayton show to enter it into competition. If its mediocre, then photos are sent to the customer, then hopefully the carving is sent his way also.

Mark ....... as usual your work inspires me, raises the bar and makes me think! That is dangerous for me.....I never get anything finished when I'm in that state, drooling over someone elses work, and dreaming..."If I could only be able to carve like that, I'd be happy!!!"

But, then, we are always seeing things we'd like to be able to do.....like: Lynns scenes, Hugh's birds, Susan's designs, Ashby's reliefs, Patrick's faces, Colin's spirits, Alfie's totems, etc, etc, etc, etc ....!!!
