Patrick ,

You asked a question the other day about using a torch. I wanted a effect and thought of your post.

So I torched the cape. Then used tung oil gave me a perfect effect.

Well done I like the folds in the blue blanket. The only time I ever thought about torching a carving is when messed it up and wanted to toss it in the fire before anyone saw it Ha! Ha!. Thats what so good about this forum you learn so much form other carvers.

WCI ran an article a few moths ago on a gentleman using the torch to get a look on his birds carvings. I was impressed with the look of the style. First time I ever had a reason to try it. But it is a trick I will use again.

I used the light blue , with the dark blue line as this was the style of the first trade blankets in the late 1600's made by the English woolen mills. The other was red and black stripe.
