| | Re: Hugh Hefner - done Well guys, you are all very observant. Correct on all counts of my mistakes/goofs/just not getting it rights. But I tried. Like I said humans are not my thing. The woman who wanted it done loved it but then she sent the photos to the "mansions photographer", who said the nose might be wrong. Wanted to know if I could fix it before next Thursday. HA! I offered to fix it but it might take another month and I would need to cut off the nose and try to match up grain for the new one. What she is paying me I might make .25 cents an hour. I am so tired of that thing that I really don't care much myself anymore but I'll try to fix the nose if she wants me to. Its almost got me to the point that I don't think I can carve anymore. I also think I am going into "grouch" mode from lack of solid food. ![001[1]3424](http://www.woodcarvingillustrated.com/forum/images/smilies/001[1]3424.gif)

| | Re: Hugh Hefner - done Sorry to hear that they are being such a pain, it really is a nice piece and something to be proud of. (my comments were just an objective critique of the piece in general not of your exceptional skills...heck i can't carve as well and am not going through what you are with the oral surgery...)
No solid food, try a barley sandwich (beer) it works like Calgon for me!!! |

| | Re: Hugh Hefner - done I was worried that I missed your posting of your completed bust. It's difficult to critique something so well done. If you wanted a replica....then we could perhaps suggest slanting the eyes for example...as someone said. As I was once told me, copying someone elses work or picture is easy (which I do not believe) but carving something from your own perspective is much more challenging as the carving comes from within. Sounds pretty profound but there must be some truth to it. I usually start off my postings with "Here is my randition of...." and that lets me off the hook for not getting the picture I'm using as a reference replicated in my carving. Some call it your personal style.
Your bust turned out very good so you should be proud. You don't need the picture to pic out Hugh's features. Well done.

| | Re: Hugh Hefner - done oh, i am very sorry to hear that you lost wish to carve from that. i cant understand why she first says she likes it, and then later not. your carving IS great. do not believe those people... you did a wonderful job, everybody can see who you carved, and not only that, i think you even captured his character as shown in fotos... yes, as patrick said, you should really be proud of your work. please keep going... |

| | Re: Hugh Hefner - done Well I'm glad to see this is just a posting of a carving! After reading the title, "Hugh Hefner...done" I thought he died!!
Don't get down about those people, seems to me, you need to use alittle "Irish Diplomacy" on them!

| | Re: Hugh Hefner - done I have a solution, cut the nose off and send it loose in the package with a blank piece of wood too, about the size. With a note, telling them to carve the "F**king" nose themselves!!! Tell them to glue it on above the smirk!!!
